Pizza Sauce

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Base:

    • Heat the olive oil in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat.

    • Add the minced garlic and sauté it for about 1 minute, or until it becomes fragrant and golden (be careful not to burn it).

  2. Add Tomatoes:

    • Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. If the sauce is too thick, add a little water (about 1/4 cup) to reach your preferred consistency.

  3. Season the Sauce:

    • Add the oregano, basil, sugar (optional), salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine everything.

  4. Simmer:

    • Lower the heat and allow the sauce to simmer for 15–20 minutes. Stir occasionally. The longer you simmer, the more the flavors meld together. If the sauce gets too thick, add a little more water.

  5. Final Touch:

    • Once the sauce has reached your desired thickness and flavor, taste it. Adjust salt, pepper, or sugar as needed.

  6. Optional – Fresh Herbs:

    • If you like fresh herbs, stir in the chopped parsley at the end for a fresh, bright flavor.

  7. Cool and Use:

    • Let the sauce cool down before spreading it on your pizza dough. This will help prevent sogginess.

Tips:

  • If you prefer a smooth sauce, you can blend it in a blender after simmering.

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar or a pinch of garlic powder to taste.

  • This sauce can be stored in the fridge for up to a week, or frozen for longer storage.
